![]() (These games were released both as PS1 Classics and on a PSP UMD I'm fairly sure it was emulation-based even on the supposed PSP version, but it has minor differences from the PS1 Classic version, so maybe not? Anyway, I say it counts!) If ports are allowed, how can I resist? Japan only, a combo pack of my two favourite games of all time. Partially because a lot of them are ports or got ports later, but still. I'll certainly stand behind everything on the list as "games I enjoyed a lot", but you could go without most of these and not miss too much. A lot of games popped into my head, but as I thought it over, I'm not sure many of them are essential all-time greats (or even "really good", honestly). This was a difficult list to come up with. PSP was my first real console that I invested heavily into (I had a PS2 & A NDS as well) so I have fond memories of the library, so many great classics trapped on it. It introduces all new characters and have you play through 3 different stories that are entertwined, so you see everyone's PoV. While BBS gets flak for having a lot of misteps with the combat in comparison to KH2, I still find it to be great fun to play through. ![]() Delightfully simple & fun with great presentation. Need I say anything about Locoroco 2 & It's predecessor? Both of these games I think of as THE PSP title, It's what always comes to mind on the screen of a PSP when I think about it.All of the music rocks and the rhythm based combat is just a blast to play once you get into it. I was constantly playing throught missions to get materials to upgrade my patapons, and I even managed to do the end-game content in the game. Patapon 2 was my Go-to car ride game and I have immesurable nostalgia for it.The Story somehow manages to make a FF Villain vs Heroes mashup work in such a way that each character doesn't feel out of place, and the combat is absolutely top notch and Square just somehow has not been able to replicate it since. Dissidia is Straight up my most played game on the console by a long shot, I played it basically religiously since it's release.Spike only has access to one Gadget the Nuggetcher, which is able to suck up Monkey Pants. For now I'll do a write-up for my Top 5 since I don't have much more time, but these are basically it for me: Casi: The AI assistant of the Professor.Recognized by their Pipo Helmets and unicolored pants. Pipo Monkeys: The common monkeys of the game series. His intelligence is increased by the Pipo Helmet. Specter: The evil monkey who attempted world domination.Professor: The Professor who invented the pipo helmet, the Virtual Space, and many other things.Natalie: The Professor's granddaughter that assists Spike on his journey.Spike: The red haired protagonist of the first game who defeated Specter. It's up to Spike to collect and wash all of the Monkey Pants. A sanitation check was determined to begin soon, and if the monkey pants were not clean by then, the Virtual Space would be taken down. However, the owner of Monkey Park reported the missing monkeys to the government. ![]() There are five stages to complete and a boss battle in each level, much like Pumped & Primed's layout.Īfter the events of Ape Escape, the Pipo Monkeys that Spike caught in the previous adventure were sent to a "Virtual Space" invented by the Professor. The storyline is made in a similar style to Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed. ![]() It has 36 stages, while the original has only 19. It also featured more levels than the original game. 2001 was also the first game in the series to feature no other enemies than the apes. The graphics were slightly improved yet very similar to the original Ape Escape with the same symbols used throughout the game, such as the stage cleared symbol. Bomb tokens can also be collected to attack monkeys and bosses. While sucking the pants off of a monkey, the monkey can be fired into other monkeys to knock them out. The goal of each level is to use a vacuum cleaner to remove a required amount of pants off of the apes and put them into an oversized washing machine while preventing the monkeys from re-obtaining their shorts or attacking the player. The left analog stick on the DualShock Controller is used to control Spike's movement, but unlike the original game, the right analog stick is used only for power throw aiming and the face-buttons are used to attack. Ape Escape 2001's gameplay differs from the original Ape Escape gameplay outline.
